Donkey Kong Country Flash
By TheRussian
Type: SMF2
This edition is like none other. You can have Diddy, DK, Sqawks and Rambi all at the same time. That does have the annoying effect of different characters detecting hits at different times, but once you get used to it it's great. You can even make 'darkness cave' levels which make it hard to see properly. This is something completely new. It has to be the most revolutionary edition ever.

You might think a desert edition is pointless as you can already design desert levels in SMF2. The broken pillars and brick tiles allow you to do new things with the scenery.

With a selection of chocolate-themed tiles and sprite recolours, Chocolate Edition is a classic edition that has always been very popular. Some of the tiles and sprites look fuzzy though, which is a shame. Nevertheless, it's great if you want to make some chocolate-themed levels.

This classic edition from BA makes everything look snowy, icy and cold. It's really well made and is still used commonly for ice levels even now. SMB Flash lets you design levels absolutely identical to the first Super Mario game, with its perfectly edited tiles and monsters. If you want to make a nostalgic level in SMF1, this is how to do it.
Tip: What would be more interesting than making a nostalgic level would be to use this edition to design a complex and scenerific level. It would be totally unique.

Just look at that screenshot. Corpse Edition is what you get when you mix SMF2 and The Evil Within (well, kind of). It's dark, bloody (in case you didn't notice) and has a nice amount of pixelated gore. It's not as complete a redesign as some other editions, which means it can't sit that high on this list, but it's still great as an alternative to ZidaneZ's edition.

Snow Edition
By Mitja
Type: SMF1
This edition is made less useful by the fact that there already are snow tiles in SMF1, but it's good if you want a greater variety of snow tiles. There's ice blocks, snow-covered mushroom platforms and icy water, lots of options for making unique ice levels, like ice castles. The snow on the singular blocks looks kind of choppy, but other than that the options are good!

Golden Edition
By BrokenAce
Type: SMF2
Everything in this edition appears in gold or silver. Back when it was designed, there were fewer editions available, causing it to be more exciting. But now, with so many editions, there are other, better ones to enjoy. Still, it's useful if you want to create a temple level or something like that, even though levels in it can look bland as they're completely in gold.

Crash Bandicoot Edition
By Luigibonus
Type: SMF2
CB Edition looks pretty awkward, for the reason that it tries to make a 3D game into a 2D one. Crash looks inconsistent in his art style compared to everything else. When you hit a turtle, a recoloured koopa emerges, despite looking nothing like where it came from. There's a lack of original backgrounds. I could go on as this is an unpolished edition. Many of the tiles look great and the music and sound effects are great too. It just needs a lot of improvements.

This redesigns the tiles and adds cool new music, to give it a much more cartoony appearance. That's good, but it isn't hugely useful, especially with so many other editions to enjoy. The sprites also remain unchanged. Plus, some of it is done weirdly. For example, the clear pipes look interesting but allow you to see piranha plant cutoff.
